When there is a power outage, unplug all electrical devices from the outlets.
If you leave electrical devices plugged in, when power is restored, it may start a fire. -
When water service resumes, cloudy or discolored water may come out at first. Let the water flow until it runs clear.
-
When gas stops because of a disaster, take the following steps.
Check to ensure there is no smell of gas.
If you smell gas, there may be a gas leak.
Open the windows to ventilate the area.
Using electricity may cause a fire, so don't use the extractor fan.
Be sure not to use lighters, matches or other open flames.
Contact the gas company immediately.
If you don't smell gas, take the following steps.

If the flashing light still doesn't go away, contact the gas company.
-
-

After a major earthquake, it is common for major roads to be closed to all except emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire trucks and police cars) and vehicles carrying necessary items. Do not use roads until they are reopened to the general public.
-
When a major earthquake (Seismic Intensity 6 Lower (shindo 6 jaku) or higher) strikes Tokyo, cars coming from outside cannot enter the city past Ring Road No.7 (kannana-dori). Major roads will be closed.
-
Road information will be broadcast on TV and radio. You can also look it up online.
