September 1 is “Disaster Prevention Day.” And September is “Disaster Prevention Month.”

September 1 marks the day the “Great Kanto Earthquake” struck in 1923. A very powerful earthquake hit Tokyo and the wider Kanto region. Many typhoons also occur in September.
