40-minute film screeing followed by a talk and Q&A session with director Park Ki-ho.

This documentary film "In Between —In Search of Native Language Spaces—" is highly recommended for those who are concerned about immigration issues in Japan and those who are seeking to build an international society in Japan. The number of people with foreign roots living in Japan continues to grow, and they are already our neighbors. While Japanese language education is certainly important, an equally important question for coexistence is how their mother tongue, which is closely tied to their human rights and cultural identity, will be protected within Japanese society.

How has Japan, as part of the international community, changed in recent decades regarding language education? Let’s explore these questions together with researchers. It's the last Saturday of summer vacation. It’s hot, but please come along with your family or friends and join us!
