Useful Japanese words when you apply

When you are applying for an event or giveaway, here are a few words that you may find useful.

The “募集boshu” is a call for people to sign up for an event or giveaway.
The “期間kikan” is the period from the beginning to the end of the call (募集boshu).
The “募集期間中boshu-kikanchu” is the period during which one may apply.

There are various other Japanese words related to an application (申し込みmoshikomi).

先着順senchakujun

The earliest applicanxts will be chosen on a first come, first served basis. This system is called "先着順senchakujun". Conditions are the same by phone, by email, and via the Internet.

For example, "「先着senchaku20mei」" means that once the number of applicants reaches 20, no more applications will be accepted. After that, you cannot apply even during the application period.  

抽選chusen

申し込みmoshikomi(application) shall be made during the application period. When the application period is closed, and the number of applicants is larger than the number of openings, the program will be done by  "抽選chusen". "抽選chusen" is the selection of people who can participate in an event or obtain a prize. There are many ways to select the winners. For example, if the number of desired applicants is 20, and there are 30 applicants, there are 10 more applicants than needed. So,  抽選chusen (a draw) will be held.

予約優先yoyakuyusen

People with reservations(予約yoyaku) will be given first priority(優先yusen). This system is called "予約優先yoyakuyusen".
Those who do not have a reservation will be processed after those who do. It is best to make reservations when you can.
