"Our Tokyo" Minimum Wage

Wages are money earned from work. The minimum wage is the lowest basic wage. The minimum wage is set by law. Companies or persons paying wages must pay the minimum wage or a wage higher than the minimum wage.   • Starting October 2022, the minimum wage in Tokyo is set at 1,072 Yen. This is the highest in Japan.
  • The minimum wage does not include transportation and commuting allowances (money for trains, etc.), overtime and overtime payment (money for working outside of regular hours), or bonuses.
