*This article originally appeared on a website operated by Tokyo International Communication.
The Tokyo Fire Department has started distribution of an official app for easily obtaining information on fire-fighting and first aid—anytime and anywhere. The app was developed to target young people who have a high ratio of smartphone usage. In addition to Japanese, the app also supports English, Chinese (traditional and simplified), and Korean. This makes it convenient for non-Japanese people to use.
The main functions and contents of the app are as follows.
- The FAQ section lists categories of questions and answers on fire-fighting and first aid.
- Kyuta, the mascot of the Tokyo Fire Department, provides information in a conversation format.
- The app can also be used for one-touch dialing of 119 and #7119, which is the Tokyo Fire Department Emergency Telephone Consultation Center.
- The map displays fire-fighting facilities and locations of fire-fighting events.
- The app also features a video explanation of how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), emitting a pulsing sound for the tempo of chest compression.
- Information on fire-fighting events is also available.
The app also has a wide range of contents such as a video library and a fire-fighting quiz for learning about fire-fighting and first aid while having fun. This fire-fighting app has something to interest everyone and is useful during emergencies.
