In summer, sunlight is very strong. Hiyake means that sunlight hits the skin, causing it to become red and hot. Getting too much sun is bad for your skin, so here are some tips on how to protect your skin.

紫外線Shigai-sen (Ultraviolet Rays – UV Rays)

Shigai-sen is the light that comes from the sun. You can't see shigai-sen (UV rays) with the naked eye. If you are out in the sun for a long time, you'll get hiyake (sunburned), which isn't good for your skin. When you get sunburned, your skin becomes dark and wrinkled. UV rays are also present in spring, autumn, and winter, but they are strongest in summer. Please be careful.

UVカットUV katto (UV protection)

To prevent sunburn, it is a good idea to use clothing, hats, cosmetics, etc. that are labeled "UV katto" (UV protection). Products labeled in this way cut (katto) UV rays, so they can protect your skin.

日焼け止めHiyake-dome (Sunscreen)

Hiyake-dome is a cream that helps to prevent sunburn. There are various types of sunscreens, such as creams and sprays. Use sunscreen on areas of your body that are directly exposed to sunlight, such as your face, neck, and arms.

日傘Higasa (Parasol)

A higasa is a parasol that blocks the sun. UV parasols are also available. There are also sunshade umbrellas with UV protection that can be used on rainy days.

There are many things you can do to protect your skin from hiyake (sunburn) and shigai-sen (UV rays). Choose what works best for you.
