How to Pay by Credit Card

・One-time Payment
・Pay in Installments
・Revolving Payment
・Bonus Payment (bonus one-time payment)

Credit cards offer a variety of ways to make payments and are very convenient. Here are four ways to pay when you use a credit card.

*The way you use your credit card depends on your credit card company. Please read the rules of each company carefully.

一括払いIkkatsu-barai一回払いIkkai-barai - One-time Payment -

Ikkatsu-barai is paying for shopping in a single payment.
When you pay with a credit card, you usually pay by one-time payment. If you choose that option, you do not have to pay a fee (money you pay to the credit card company when you use your credit card). At stores, you may often be asked, "Do you want to pay by ikkatsu (one-time payment)?"

分割払いBunkatsu-barai - Pay in Installments -

Bunkatsu-barai is a type of payment where you divide the total purchase cost into payments.
You can decide the number of payments by yourself. In this case, you have to pay a fee or fees. The more payments you make, the higher the total of fees.

Example)
The money you pay for 60,000 yen of shopping:
・Pay in 6 installments (one every month): 10,000 yen + fee x 6
・Pay in 3 installments (one every month): 20,000 yen + fee x 3

*Whether you can pay by bunkatsu-barai depends on the store.

リボ払いRibo-barai - Revolving Payment -

Ribo-barai is a type of payment where you pay the same amount of money each month.
You decide how much you want to pay each month. Even if you buy a lot of things, the amount of money you pay each month is the same. The fee is based on the total amount of money you must pay. So, the more you shop, the more you will have to pay in fees.

Example)
The money you pay for 60,000 yen of shopping:

Pay 5,000 yen every month: 5,000 yen + fee x 12
Pay 3,000 yen every month: 3,000 yen + fee x 20
*The more times you pay, the higher the total of fees.

*When you want to use ribo-barai, you need to decide how much you will pay each month, on your credit card company's website or application.

ボーナス払いBonus-barai – Bonus Payment (bonus one-time payment) -

This is a type of payment for shopping which you pay around the time of the nearest bonus (money you receive from the company where you work, in addition to your monthly salary).

Bonuses are often paid in summer (July or August) and winter (December or January). People often use bonus- barai for expensive shopping, or when they want to pay by ikkatsu-barai (one-time) later.

Example)
50,000 yen shopping in February → Paid in July or August
20,000 yen shopping in September and 3,000 yen shopping in October → All paid in December or January

*The bonus payment months vary depending on each credit card company, so please check the website of your credit card company.
*Whether you can pay by bonus-barai depends on each store.
