Words Used When You Receive Letters and Packages
Delivery Notice / Doorstep Delivery / Redelivery
When you are not at home, you may receive an important letter by mail or a package by courier service.

Delivery Notice[不在票(不在連絡票)]
It is a piece of paper that lets you know that someone came to deliver an important letter or package when you were not home. A delivery person puts a slip in the mailbox of your residence. The delivery notice slip contains the information you need to have your package redelivered.
Redelivery[再配達]
Redelivery means having a letter or package that you could not receive delivered again. If you find a delivery notice slip in your mailbox, contact delivery carriers by phone or internet as soon as possible to request redelivery. After 7 days (or 3 days for refrigerated-shipping “Cool Bin”) from the date of a slip posted in your mailbox, a package should be returned to the sender.

Doorstep Delivery[置き配]
Doorstep delivery is having packages left at a designated location (the location you have decided upon). If you do not want to answer the door, or if you are not home, they will leave packages and other items at a designated location for you. The delivery location can be specified as various places, such as a delivery box, meter box, garage, or in front of your entrance.
