Foundation for the promotion of Chofu city's culture and community Center for International Friendship and Amity

Center for International Friendship and Amity (CIFA) was established in April 2024 under the Foundation for the Promotion of Chofu City's Culture and Community and on the legacy of the former Chofu International Friendship Association, which was founded in November 1994. The organization is dedicated to fostering grassroots, citizen-led international exchange and promoting mutual understanding across cultures.

CIFA's core activities include Japanese language learning support for non-Japanese residents —adults, school-age children, and parents raising infants— and encompass a wide range of initiatives designed to foster international exchange and mutual understanding. These include cultural exchange events such as cultural showcases, cooking sessions, and outdoor activities; lectures and seminars that promote international understanding and multicultural coexistence; consultation services for non-Japanese residents with the support of specialists; and the dispatch of volunteer interpreters and translators.  CIFA also collaborate with various international friendship organizations, also provide assistance to non-Japanese residents in times of natural disasters and actively promote the use of “Plain Japanese” to ensure accessible communication for all.
